Why convert images to JPG in your browser instead of a converter site?

Converting PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP to JPG on a typical site means the source file is uploaded so their server can do the work. NearIMG's JPG conversion runs the same encoding step locally, which also means a slow connection never turns a quick format swap into a long wait.

How it works

1. Drop in PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or HEIC images — the format is detected from the file's actual bytes, not its name.
2. Set the quality slider (85% by default) and watch the measured output size update for each file.
3. Click Convert. Each image is re-encoded to JPG on your device; transparent areas are filled with white, and a batch arrives as one ZIP.

JPG is the right target for photographs — smooth gradients compress extremely well. It's a weaker fit for hard-edged graphics: screenshots, logos and line art can show faint ringing around edges at lower quality settings, so keep the slider at 80%+ for those, or convert them to WebP instead. And because JPG has no alpha channel, transparency is flattened to white permanently — keep the original if you'll ever need it back.

What happens to transparency?

JPG has no transparency, so any transparent areas are filled with white.

Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG?

Yes. Most browsers can't decode HEIC natively, so NearIMG loads a WebAssembly build of the libheif decoder — fetched from this site only when you actually drop a HEIC file. Decoding then happens locally, and the photo still never leaves your device.
