Why watermark images locally instead of through a watermarking service?

A watermark usually carries your name or brand, and uploading the unmarked original elsewhere is a strange way to protect it. NearIMG stamps the text watermark — position, size, opacity and color — directly onto the image in your browser, so the unwatermarked file is never transmitted anywhere first.

How it works

1. Add images and type your watermark text — a name, a brand, a URL.
2. Pick a position (four corners, centre, or tiled across the whole image), then set size, opacity and colour.
3. Click Save — the text is drawn into the image's pixels on your device and the marked files download.

The size setting is a percentage of each image's shorter side, so one batch of mixed resolutions comes out with visually consistent marks rather than tiny text on the big photos and huge text on the small ones. A soft shadow is rendered behind the text automatically, keeping light-coloured watermarks readable on light backgrounds. If the mark is meant to deter reuse rather than just sign the work, use the tiled position — a corner mark can be cropped off, a diagonal repeat across the whole frame can't.

Can I tile the watermark across the image?

Yes — choose the "tiled" position to repeat it, or place it in a corner or the centre.

Can I change the colour and opacity?

Yes — set the text, size, colour and opacity before applying.

Can the watermark be removed from the file later?

Not from the downloaded file — the text is baked into its pixels, not stored as a layer. Your original stays untouched on your device, so keep it if you need an unmarked version.
