Why convert to lossless PNG on your own device?

A PNG conversion is often the first step before editing further in another app, so the file may pass through several hands afterward — no reason for a conversion server to be one of them. NearIMG produces the lossless PNG directly in your browser and hands it straight to your downloads folder.

How it works

1. Drop in JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP or HEIC images — batches are fine.
2. There's nothing to configure: PNG is lossless, so no quality decision exists to make.

PNG stores every pixel exactly and keeps transparency, which makes it the right master format before further editing: however many times a PNG is opened and re-saved, nothing degrades. The trade-offs run the other way — the file is usually larger than the JPG or WebP it came from, and converting can't restore detail a lossy original already threw away. Think of it as freezing the image's current state, not repairing it.

Is PNG higher quality than JPG?

PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, but a PNG made from a JPG cannot recover detail the JPG already lost.

Why is the PNG larger?

Lossless compression keeps every pixel, so PNGs are usually bigger than JPG or WebP.

Why is there no quality slider on this tool?

Because PNG's encoder has no quality setting — it is lossless by definition. Every conversion keeps the decoded pixels exactly, so there is genuinely nothing to tune.
